Your crawlspace might be out of sight, but its condition can significantly impact your entire home. Vapor barriers are one of the most effective ways to protect your crawlspace from moisture, mold, and long-term structural damage. At Crawlspace Transformers, we specialize in high-quality vapor barrier installation to safeguard your home from the ground up. Even though we will always strongly encourage you to consider installing a full encapsulation system, we have decided to always install our vapor barriers using high quality material and state of the art techniques.
From our years of experience we have noticed that many people pay once to have a basic vapor barrier installed only to have to repay for a proper liner once they find that the vapor barrier just doesn't cut it. The last thing we want is to waste our clients' money. We use the same quality liner for our vapor barrier install at no extra cost to the client. (To be completely honest with you - the material costs aren't that high in the crawlspace business. The cost is in the labor, so why not just install the best material for everyone?) We do this because we want to be able to add to this liner in the future when you decide that a full encapsulation is needed.
We get asked this question a lot! It's not that we don't like it. It has it's place and time. For example, if a client is on a budget and can only do a vapor barrier, we always suggest getting one over nothing at all.
But, we always encourage the home owner to continue monitoring their crawlspace humidity, wood joist moisture content and look for signs of pests to be a step ahead of the problems.
Thankfully we always use the same liner for our vapor barriers as we use for our encapsulations. This way we can later modify your system to a full encapsulation without having you repay for the full area of your crawlspace.
